Description: On April 5, 1930 Chief Deputy Sheriff Elliott was crushed between a tree and the running board of an automobile while attempting to stop a car that had run through a red light. Deputy Elliott hopped on the running board of the vehicle and ordered the driver to stop. The driver deliberately swerved the vehicle and collided with a tree. Deputy Elliott fell from the running board and the driver drove away. Deputy Elliott was transported to the hospital where he died a week later on April 12th. The driver was arrested and charged with second degree murder.
