Description: Deputy Sheriff Edwards was shot as he attempted to serve a warrant to a suspect wanted on an assault and battery charge. Deputy Edwards went to the suspect's residence but the man was not there. Deputy Edwards was confronted by the suspect shortly afterwards and was shot in the heart. Deputy Edwards died before he could be transported to the hospital. His assailant was convicted of murder and sentenced to death by electrocution.
