Description: Deputy Sheriff Elium died in a single vehicle automobile crash from injuries sustained earlier in the evening. Deputy Elium and Volunteer sheriffŸ??s chaplain Lee Sorenson were responding to back-up a fellow deputy regarding a traffic stop. While en route with emergency lights and siren activated, Deputy Elium lost control of his patrol vehicle and struck a tree. Deputy Elium was extracted from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Chaplain Sorenson survived his injuries.
