Description: On November 11, 1971, Lieutenant Elmore was shot when he stopped a vehicle to question the driver. Lieutenant Elmore was shot once in the abdomen then two more times in the back as he lay on the ground. The suspects fled the scene. Lieutenant Elmore was paralyzed from the waist down and died of a heart attack and complications of the injury eleven years later.
