Description: Patrolman Evers was taking a suspect to headquarters when the suspect struggled free and fled. Patrolman Evers flagged down a horse trolley to assist in the capture of the suspect. As Patrolman Evers attempted to step on the platform, he slipped and fell in front of the trolley. The front wheel struck his head then dragged his body a considerable distance. Patrolman Evers was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was captured.
