Description: On August 5, 1939, Patrolman Futcher, age 38, was injured in an automobile crash while in pursuit of a speeding motorist. His patrol car was struck by another motorist which caused him to crash onto the steps of a church. Patrolman Futcher sustained a contusion of the chest and was transported to the hospital where he was treated then released the same day. Eight days later, Patrolman Futcher collapsed while at home working on his car. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
