Description: Patrolman Frueh was shot in the head with a .22 revolver as he was transporting a suspect to retrieve a gun. The suspect was a member of a gang of robbers who had killed St. Louis Police Officer William Griffin during a robbery attempt earlier that month on June 10th. The suspect attempted to get away on Patrolman Frueh's motorcycle but crashed and broke his neck.
