Description: Officer Fahey was shot by an assailant while on night patrol. Local residents were awakened by gunfire, when they went to investigate they found Officer Fahey with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was able to identify his assailant to fellow officers who arrested the suspect the next day. Officer Fahey was the first officer from the Austin, TX Police Department to be killed in the line of duty.
