Description: Correctional Officer Fitzgerald was attacked and killed by an inmate at the Tomoka Correctional Institution. Armed with a homemade knife, the suspect inmate was hiding inside a shed and waited for Officer Fitzgerald. When Officer Fitzgerald approached the shed, the inmate stabbed her several times. The inmate was convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
