Description: Police Officer Fitzgerald was injured in an automobile crash when his cruiser was struck by an ambulance while en route to a medical emergency. While making a U-turn, Officer Fitzgerald's cruiser was struck on the driver's side by an ambulance following him to the call. The three occupants of the ambulance and Officer Fitzgerald were all transported to the hospital. The three EMT's sustained minor injuries. Officer Fitzgerald succumbed to his injuries the following day.
