Description: On October 27, 1913, Deputy Sheriff Franklin was shot when he attempted to arrest two suspects who were drinking on the veranda of a hotel. Deputy Franklin returned fire and killed one of the suspects. Deputy Franklin died of his injuries five days later. The second suspect was arrested and charged with murder.
