Description: Trooper Fredenburg died of a heart attack during participation in a basic training run. Trooper Fredenburg completed 0.25 miles of the scheduled basic training run when he grabbed his side and collapsed. Several classmates who were also EMT trained restarted Trooper Fredenburg's heart with an AED. Trooper Fredenburg was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Physical training that morning started at 0540 hours and consisted of calisthenics, stretches and 100 burpees. The previous morning Trooper Fredenburg completed remedial running training (running on a treadmill at a 15% incline for ten sets of twenty seconds on, ten seconds rest) followed by a regular physical training session, without a class run.
