Description: Patrolman Farrell was accidentally shot by a fellow officer who mistook him for a robber. Patrolman Farrell, who was in plainclothes, was attempting to arrest a resisting suspect. The second officer responded to the scuffle and believed that he was witnessing a robbery in progress. The officer drew his gun and fired. Patrolman Farrell was shot in the head and died at the scene. The officer was exonerated by the police superintendent after an investigation. Inadvertent fire.
