Description: Trooper Froemsdorf was shot with his own gun when he stopped a suspect for speeding. Trooper Froemsdorf arrested the suspect after a radio check revealed the suspect as wanted for armed robbery in Texas. The suspect was able to free one of his hands, attack Trooper Froemsdorf and gain control of his service weapon. Trooper Froemsdorf was shot while in the patrol car. His assailant was convicted of first degree murder and executed by lethal injection in 2001.
