Description: Deputy Marshal Fields was shot and killed while attempting to arrest desperados barricaded in a fort-like cabin in Tahlequah, Indian Territory. The desperados shot at the marshals when asked to surrender and fatally wounded Marshal Fields. Marshal Fields was shot in the neck and died instantly.
