Description: Police Officer Fairbanks was shot and killed as she investigated a suspicious vehicle on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. Officer Fairbanks radioed the State Patrol that she would be checking on a van with missing license plates. When Officer Fairbanks failed to respond to the State Police dispatcher, State Troopers were dispatched. Officer Fairbanks was found with a single gunshot wound to the head and was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
