Description: Deputy Fleming was attempting to arrest a suspect for public intoxication when the suspect pulled a revolver and shot him five times. As the suspect fled the scene, he fired at civilians and several other officers. Officer Charles Mundy was also fatally wounded in an exchange of gunfire. The suspect was shot and killed by law enforcement officers. The suspect was a paroled convict who had previously served six years for his involvement in the deaths of Kentucky Highway Patrolmen Robert Rowland and J.P. Hays.
