Description: Deputy Flippin, along with Sheriff J.B. Butler, attempted to serve warrants to two men wanted for murder, arson & horse theft. The suspects ambushed the officers, shot Flippin in the head and shot and severely beat Butler. Deputy Sheriff Flippin died a short time later. Sheriff Butler eventually recovered from his wounds. The two suspects were hunted down, shot and burned by an angry mob.
