Description: Deputy Marshal Friend was killed in an automobile accident as he was transporting a prisoner to the Bell county jail in Kentucky. The department vehicle collided with a coal truck on a snow-covered road. Two other vehicles also crashed into theirs causing a four car pile-up. Deputy Marshal Margaret Gilliam was injured in this incident but survived.
