Description: Detective Fitzgerald was shot in an exchange of gunfire as he attempted to arrest a gang wanted for murder during a robbery. Two other officers were wounded in this incident. Two suspects were convicted of the murder and sentenced to death. However, both prisoners escaped from the jail and were fatally wounded by a posse.
