Description: Deputy Farrell was shot when he intervened in an assault of a child. A seven year old boy threw a rock at another child and missed, striking an adult male. The man approached the child and slapped him. Deputy Farrell intervened and questioned the adult, who then drew a handgun and shot Deputy Farrell three times in the head and chest. Deputy Farrell was transported to the hospital where he died. His assailant was arrested.
