Description: Officer Gimbert and two deputies went to investigate reports of a whiskey still being operated near Camp Pendleton. A gunfight erupted between the lawmen and three lookouts at the still. Officer Gimbert was struck in the head and died. A deputy was slightly wounded. Two suspects were found guilty of murder and received 20 year sentences. A third suspect received a 5 year sentence for second degree murder.
