Description: On June 9, 1950, Patrolman Guenther was responding to an accident scene when his vehicle was struck by a car. Patrolman Guenther was thrown from the vehicle which flipped over and landed on him. He suffered a broken pelvis, a fractured shoulder, several broken ribs, a crushed right knee and a damaged spine. Over the next 11 years, he had 14 operations. He lived in chronic pain and once spent eight months in a full body cast. Patrolman Guenther died of cardiac failure on December 19, 1961.
