Description: Detective Graft and Officer Bruce Bonney were off-duty and in full uniform working as security guards at a trucking company. The officers were monitoring the calls on the police radio when they heard the description of a man wanted for a shooting and robbery at a hotel. The officers spotted a man fitting the description and approached him for questioning. They identified themselves as officers and the man responded by shooting Detective Graft in the chest and Officer Bonney in the leg. The officers returned fire, wounding the suspect. Detective Graft was pronounced dead at the hospital.
