Description: Sheriff Charles Gassaway, his brother Deputy William Gassaway, Deputy Bob Wallace, Deputy James Payne, Deputy Jesse Davis and Deputy Pat Prout were fatally shot as they attempted to arrest a suspect wanted for obtaining goods under false pretenses. The barricaded suspect was killed by responding officers.
