Description: Sergeant Goetz had been alerted by a fellow officer of two cars traveling, with their brights on, northbound at high speeds on the road he was guarding. Sergeant Goetz stepped into the southbound lane to signal to the two cars to slow down when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The men of the car that struck him stated that they couldn't see him because of the bright lights from the oncoming cars and were exonerated. Goetz died on his way to the hospital.
