Description: Patrolman Grennan went on patrol duty on December 9, 1920. When he failed to return to the precinct when his shift had ended, fellow officers searched for him. Patrolman Grennan's body was retrieved from the Gowanus Canal on March 4th, still dressed in his uniform. Police Officials concluded that Patrolman Grennan accidentally fell while on patrol along the canal. The death certificate states the cause of death as an accidental drowning.
