Description: Officer Griffin had arrested a man suspected of theft. Officer Griffin escorted the man into his house to talk with his wife and change clothes. While inside, the man picked up a 45 caliber revolver. The two men never made it to the police station. After an intense search and many tip-offs, Officer Griffin's body was found later that week in a shallow grave with a bullet wound through his neck and a hash over the eye. The killer, John Leonard Whitfield, was found in June and sentenced to life imprisonment.
