Description: Deputy Sheriff Griffith was shot with a .22 revolver as he and Deputy Tom Lambert searched a suspicious vehicle that was parked alongside the road. The deputies had set up a roadblock in an attempt to capture suspects wanted in a series of robberies in the area. Deputy Griffith died at the scene. Deputy Lambert was also shot but survived. Two suspects were convicted of murder and incarcerated.
