Description: Sergeant Greene and PFC. Donald Cieniawski were on routine patrol when they came upon a burglary in progress at the Fort Story service station. The burglars opened fire on both officers then fled the scene. The burglars were never apprehended. Sergeant Greene never recovered from his head wound and remained a quadriplegic in a semiconscious state at the Salisbury Veterans Hospital until his death five years later due to kidney failure.
