Description: Constable Gamble was ambushed and shot while playing dominoes with two companions at the Le Grande Hotel located in Williamson County. An unknown assailant fired and shot Constable Gamble in the face and chest, killing him instantly. The assailant fled the scene and was never captured. Constable Gamble had many enemies among the criminal class and there was no indication that the incident was personal. The Governor issued a reward of $300 for the capture of the suspect.
