Description: On October 26, 2016, Sergeant Gardner was injured while participating in a firearms qualification and training class. Sergeant Gardner was running from a position of cover to a shooting position when he injured his left Achilles tendon. Sergeant Gardner subsequently underwent surgery for his Achilles tendon injury on November 3, 2016. Two weeks after his surgery, Sergeant Gardner went to the emergency room with complaints of shortness of breath and succumbed to his injuries on November 15, 2016.
