Description: Patrolman Gioia was accidentally struck when he slipped and fell from the running board of a fire truck. Patrolman Gioia was on patrol when he saw smoke coming out of a building and sounded the alarm. Patrolman Gioia ran to the station and boarded the fire truck and then the accident occurred. Patrolman Gioia was transported to the hospital where he died a few hours later. Inadvertent action.
