Description: Officer Gonzalez died in an on-duty automobile accident on a roaday under construction. Officer Gonzalez's marked police car struck the back of a dump truck on the Florida Turnpike. Rescue workers attempted to save Officer Gonzalez from the wreckage, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. According to investigators, the portion of the road where the accident took place was under construction and streetlights were out of order. The accident took place at night and the dump truck was equipped with small rear lights, which the accident investigator could not see from 150 yards away. The investigation also showed that Officer Gonzalez attempted to avoid the truck at the last moment.
