Description: Deputy U.S. Marshal Goddard was shot in Goodwater, OK, as he attempted to serve a warrant to a suspect on a disorderly conduct charge. Deputy Marshal Goddard returned fire, wounding the suspect; Deputy Marshal Goddard died of his injuries the next day. The suspect was arrested a week later.
