Description: Responding to a call about a New Year's Eve street fight, a struggle ensued as Officer Gatzounas attempted to place one of the combatants under arrest. Officer Gatzounas was repeatedly kicked and punched, and he suffered a heart attack. He was pronounced dead at the local hospital less than an hour after the struggle.
