Description: Correctional Officer Goodwin was shot as he guarded a group of inmates in the hospital at the Butterfield facility. One of the inmates pointed a smuggled pistol at Officer Goodwin and demanded that he drop his weapon. When Officer Goodwin refused, he was shot. Another inmate then shot Officer Goodwin a second time. Officer Goodwin died of his injuries two days later.
