Description: Gulden had received a radio message from yakima regarding a holdup and car theft and was stopping traffic at the state scalehouse near Goldendale. He was manning the roadblock with Klickitat County Sheriff's deputy Ez Kaiser when two teenage suspects in the Yakima incidents wrecked the car they had stolen and then stole a pickup. They turned off their lights when they spotted Gulden who then stopped them for driving without lights. He approached the pickup on the driver's side and was fatally shot.
