Description: On January 5, 1999, Patrolman Gibbons responded to a disturbance call and was kicked in the chest by the woman he was attempting to subdue. Patrolman Gibbons complained of chest pains and was hospitalized. He received a clean bill of health and returned to work. He consistently complained of chest pains until his death 5 months later on May 4, 1999. His death was attributed to accelerated atherosclerosis as a result of the blunt chest trauma.
