Description: Officer Gibson and his partner, Henry Nobles went to investigate a burglary in progress at a pharmacy. Officer Gibson went to the rear of the building to apprehend the burglar. He was shot twice, in the neck and lower abdomen and died at the scene. The burglar was not caught. On May 24, 1923 Officer John Crain, while on foot patrol, was investigating why the pharmacy was not lit when he was shot and killed. Through fingerprint analysis of both crime scenes it was determined that two men were responsible for the deaths of Johnnie Gibson and John Crain. Both suspects confessed, were tried in a court of law, found guilty and electrocuted.
