Description: Patrolmen Gooding and Robert McNaughton responded to a disturbance on the Johns Island railroad tracks where they encountered an armed male. The officers arrested the man and took him into custody. During the transport, the suspect produced a .22 caliber pistol and fatally shot Patrolman Gooding in the head. Patrolman McNaughton was shot in the face but survived.
