Description: Deputy Marshal Greene was shot and killed while transporting two counterfeiters into town near Comanche, Texas. Marshal Greene arrested two brothers for using counterfeit money, relieved them of their arms, and took them towards town on horseback. One of the suspects drew a hidden rifle and demanded their money be returned. Marshal Greene shot at the suspect with his gun, grazing his head, and the suspect shot Marshal Green in the foot and face. Marshal Greene died of his wounds later that evening. The suspects were caught in 1883 and lynched by a mob before they could be prosecuted for their crimes.
