Description: Chief of Detectives Gill was shot and killed while attempting to arrest burglars. Chief Gill and two other officers responded to a call of burglars at a residence. When the officers arrived the burglars shot Chief Gill in the head and wounded a fellow officer. Chief Gill died of his wounds three days later, but the other officer survived. The burglars escaped from the scene of the crime.
