Description: Sergeant Galdi was off-duty and returning from court in his private automobile when he observed the operator of a vehicle attempt to flee on foot from the scene of an automobile accident. Sergeant Galdi pursued the suspect on foot and as he gained on the suspect, the man turned and shot him once in the chest and twice in the stomach. Sergeant Galdi was transported to the hospital where he died. Sergeant Galdi's assailant was convicted of murder and received a life sentence.
