Description: Lieutenant Gerald was in uniform, and on his way home from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center when he noticed a domestic assault occur at a local rest stop. Lieutenant Gerald stopped his vehicle and offered his assistance. The male suspect who was seen assaulting a female, walked toward Lieutenant Gerald's vehicle and shot him through the driver side window. Lieutenant Gerald was shot fatally three times and killed instantly.
