Description: Deputy Gardner was one of 13 deputies who accompanied a group of strike breakers to a coal mine. A group of unionized workers attempted to get the strike breakers to leave the train and threatened to kill them if they didn't. A gunfight ensued. Deputy Gardner and a dozen miners were killed.
