Description: City Marshal Garrett was shot and killed in an act of revenge. In February 1909, Marshal Garrett and the county commissioner advised a local family that a road leading to a new steel bridge would be erected on their property. An argument ensued, and Marshal Garrett, in self defense, shot and killed a member of the family. Eight months later, Marshal Garrett was shot four times in the head and the county commissioner was shot twice by an angry family member seeking revenge.
