Description: Chief Gates was in uniform and on duty while working at the annual fair held at the fire house. Chief Gates received a radio call concerning a possible prowler at the residence across the road from the fire house. Chief Gates responded alone. While checking the residence, he suffered a massive heart attack in the driveway. Chief Gates was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
