Description: Officer Gatewood was shot and killed while struggling with two suspects whom he had stopped for questioning on the White Mountain Apache, Arizona reservation. Officer Gatewood was responding to a burglary call when he stopped a vehicle he believed the suspects were in. The suspects, a father and son, shot Officer Gatewood in the head before fleeing into the woods.
