Description: Deputy Sheriff Griffith was shot as he attempted to arrest a suspect who was wielding a shotgun and who had made prior threats to kill the deputy. Deputy Griffith returned fire, killing his assailant. Deputy Griffith died a short time later from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
